About the role

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Corporate Communications Senior Specialist to drive communications in Australasia, based in Sydney. In this role, you will initiate, develop and implement corporate communications strategies, with the objective to promote and protect FedEx reputation in Australasia. The successful candidates will also focus on executing in the areas of media relations, strategic leadership communications, corporate social responsibility, social media, and issues and crisis communications.

Comprehensive knowledge and experience in the areas of corporate communications, public relations, media relations, reputation building are essential.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead effective corporate communications efforts to drive FedEx reputation in Australasia, working closely with in-market and regional HQ teams.
  • Have a deep understanding of market landscape in terms of social, digital communications trends and an understanding of the media landscape.
  • Undertake proactive media relations outreach to position the Regional Vice President and identify the right external opportunities and forums.
  • Drive a variety of external communications programs and prepare speeches and briefing materials.
  • Provide strategic counsel to internal stakeholders on activities to support business and communications objectives and advise on a variety of issues across the operational spectrum of the business.
  • Manage the local social media channels and drive social media content development, including data analysis to ensure optimization.
  • Initiate and develop relationships with non-profit organizations and execute on community relations programs aligned with business objectives.
  • Manage issues and crisis communications to ensure all external critical issues are handled appropriately and minimize risks to the company’s reputation.

Experience Required

  • 6-8 years of Public Relations experience in an agency or an in-house organization with experience in managing an agency.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication and Knowledge of Public Relations, Corporate Relations/Corporate Contributions, Content development, Social Media Management and Issues/Crisis Management is essential
  • Excellent communications and English writing skills
  • Project management skills and a strong track record of managing PR and media programs.
  • Regional experience is an advantage
  • Self-motivated and a team player, possessing a hands-on approach to achieving results
